Introducing this website

About us

The site was launched on 1st April, 2012, as part of the celebrations marking the 100th birthday of Tilbury Town. Annie O’Brien is the manager of the Tilbury and Chadwell Memories project, working on behalf of the Tilbury Riverside Project. She worked with Thurrock Council’s then Heritage Officer, Jonathan Catton, to launch the project.

The project was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and aims to collect a wide range of memories, photographs and objects. They will be used to help tell the story of Tilbury and Chadwell’s history.

This website is created by volunteers. We’re always interested in new recruits, so if you would like to join us or for more information about any aspect of the project, please phone Annie O’Brien 01375 859911 or e-mail us at enquiries
