  • This is the Greek bulk carrier MERAKLIS, completed at Emden, Germany, in 1975, and 28,082 tons gross.

It was owned by Merakmar Corporation, of Monrovia, Liberia, and flew the Greek flag. The managing company was Phocean Ship Agency Ltd, a Greek-controlled outfit based in London, which had its origins in the city before the Second World War. The E on the funnel is for Eustathiou, the founding family of Phocean, the last member of which, Michael Eustathiou, died in 1968.

Getting back to the ship, it was broken up in China in 2010.
