Tilbury,The Story Behind The Roads
I would just like to say that I really enjoyed watching the DVD, Tilbury,The Story Behind The Roads. I lived in Feenan Highway for over 20 years and never knew who the road was named after.
I now live in Dunlop Road and after reading your book now know who this is named after.
Fantastic work.
I would be interested in getting involved in research for a book on the history of Tilbury FC. I’m sure Lloyd Brown and Mark Southgate (now secretary of Thurrock FC) have much more knowledge than me, but would be happy to help out.

If you are interested Duncan and Michael, I posted some time ago scans of the Notts County v Tilbury FC programme and newspaper cuttings. Just click on the sports section on this website and you will find them.
A note about Tilbury FC. I was one of the hundreds of Tilbury supporters who went by chartered train in 1950 to suport the club for its FA cup match against Notts County. The team was skippered by Norton Whipps but unfortunately Tommy Lawton’ s team beat us 4.0.
