  • Hello,

I’m a photography lecturer at South Essex College in Southend, I’m originally from Tilbury, living in Langdon Hills these days. I’m shooting pictures of old now defunct cricket grounds for a project and I’m looking for old images of local grounds or information about the locations of grounds that have been lost.

The main one I’m interested in and would love to have info about is the Condovers Pitch at West Tilbury. Others I’d like to hear about is the pitch that was along Dock Road in Tilbury where Siley Weirs had a team (Dock based team). Where exactly was that, are there any pictures of it and when was it de-commissioned?

Also was there ever a pitch on the playing fields area near Bata’s at East Tilbury? Any info or pictures would be great as a part of my research.

    Dave Thompson.
