F.A.CUP 1st Round - 26/11/1949

Notts County v Tilbury

Notts County 4  Tilbury 0
Anyone remember this match ? I don’t as I was only 1 month old. But most of my family and hundreds of locals made their way to Nottingham to see this epic match. The famous Tommy Lawton was playing for Notts County.

  • My Grandfather Malcolm Lawson played in this match! He caught the eye of Nottingham Forest from this match and was offered a pro contract but turned it down because we already had a job that was better paid and stayed at Tilbury. How times have changed!
