When I was about 3 or 4 I lived in Calcutta Road, one day myself and a neighbours little boy about the same age (can't remember his name) decided to go walkabout. Parents were frantic and a search was started. After about 2 hours we were both found safe and sound, but soaking wet splashing about in the horse trough near Tilbury Town station.

I'm not sure of Kathryn's age but, if the incident happened around 1949/50, the little boy in the horse trough may have been me. Around that time I was living at my Grandfather's bakery at no.132, opposite Skinner's garage and we later moved to Malta Road. I was guilty of the same walkabout and my Mother still reminds me of the little 'adventure' even now!

In answer to you Mike, there is a great possibility that it was you and me out on an adventure, I can't remember exactly how old I was, but I was born mid 1948, so there is a good chance that your right about the 1950 date, what a coincidence......
