  • In answer to you Mike, there is a great possibility that it was you and me out on an adventure, I can’t remember exactly how old I was, but I was born mid 1948, so there is a good chance that your right about the 1950 date, what a coincidence……

  • I’m not sure of Kathryn’s age but, if the incident happened around 1949/50, the little boy in the horse trough may have been me. Around that time I was living at my Grandfather’s bakery at no.132, opposite Skinner’s garage and we later moved to Malta Road. I was guilty of the same walkabout and my Mother still reminds me of the little ‘adventure’ even now!

  • When I was about 3 or 4 I lived in Calcutta Road, one day myself and a neighbours little boy about the same age (can’t remember his name) decided to go walkabout. Parents were frantic and a search was started. After about 2 hours we were both found safe and sound, but soaking wet splashing about in the horse trough near Tilbury Town station.
