Heats and No Finals.

I use to race at Tilbury as a junior back in about 1972-74. It was a strange track long fast straight that had a fast right hand corner past the pits, into a hairpin bend then it became short and twisty. The difference with Tilbury was you won the meeting on points from your heats. No other track I raced at that time did that, so your day wasn’t about a final, it was about every race. To gain your maximum points. I remember the late Lorraine Peck racing there and to me it became the second track to Rye House, for its skills required to master the track. Great Memories!
