TILBURY BAGGAGE HALL

A BOXING MATCH

Can anyone remember a boxing match held in the baggage hall at Tilbury Landing Stage. It was between The Army Air, The Air Force and Navy. It was a regular thing in those days to have boxing matches to entertain people because there was nothing else to see or do. The idea of this boxing match was my fathers. He used to organise and officiate at a great many of the schoolboy boxing matches. Mainly at St Chads school. The boxing match at the baggage hall raised lots of money but I cant remember what charity it was for. I was only very young then but I do remember loads of money being thrown into the ring at the end.

I was bread and born in Tilbury, Went to Lansdowne School and then St Chads. I would love to hear from my many friends that I had at school but I lost touch when I joined the army for three years came home and then got married and moved. I am sure that you all remember ‘Effie Beadle’ sweet shop in Christchurch/Toronto Road. Good Luck all. Hope to hear from you soon.
