History of St Chads School

I am very interested in the history of the former St. Chads School in Tilbury. Now a site for new homes. I would love to find out the history of the demolished buildings.
I can’t find any information online giving dates and historical facts about the school.

I really wanted to know when the school was built, was it used for anything before the school, and have there been any buildings on this site before the school.

  • The date for the school was on the front of the main building and was 1923. Not sure why most of this site is remembering the later 1970s and not earlier. Perhaps a lot of ex pupils from and earlier era are dead! My years were 1968-1973.

  • My father taught briefly at the start of the war (1939-1940) and I’d love to find photos of the school community at that time. Jo Simpson (formerly Pinsent).

  • Kayleigh Curson is looking for information about Albert John Smith. He went to school at St Chads, leaving at the age of 14 in 1936. Can anyone help?
