A very pleasant and picturesque walk

Following the Thames from East Tilbury to Tilbury marshes

Salt marsh at East Tilbury
Walking west along the sea wall towards Tilbury but looking back to Coryton on the horizon
Man made lake at the gravel pit East Tilbury
Onto CoalHouse fort
Past the moat at the fort
These buildings were added to the fort in the second world war
Past the radar tower,
On past the old moorings where supplies were bought from ships to the fort by rail
The start of where the marshes were reclaimed back in the thirties
One of the many 2nd world war pillboxes located in the area around Coalhouse fort
The riverfront, Tilbury marshes looking towards the Tilbury power station

I have walked this way many times as a lad and as a man and I still enjoy it ! I spent many a day (and night ) fishing along the riverside as a lad – happy days !
