For some time i have intended to have the Bata Heritage tour at the old Bata factory in East Tilbury. I completed my engineering apprenticeship there in the early 60s. and lived on the Bata estate for some 10 years at 19/6 pence per week ( less than £1 per week ).The tour was very well arranged by Graham and Mike and lasted for about 2 hours. I would suggest to everyone that the unique way the factory was run by Thomas Bata ( a friend of Henry Ford) is well worth a Saturday morning.
