The bulk carrier SEAGULL FORTUNE (18,968 tons gross, 32,652 deadweight) had six different owners and six different names in its lifetime. It was built in Japan in 1973 as MAMMOTH PINE, and became NORMAN QUEEN in 1985. In 1995, she was bought by Greek outfit Seagull Maritime Inc, of Piraeus, and placed with its subsidiary Connie Shipping Inc, of Liberia, with the name SEAGULL FORTUNE.
By the end of the century her days were numbered and in April 1999 she was sold again to become DELLA. Her new owners squeezed a couple of trading voyages out of her, but she was renamed again, as YUKATAN, with the intention of sending her off to breakers at Alang, India, where she arrived in 2000.
