Sea Scouts in the 70's

Can you help

I lived in Tilbury from 1959 until the mid-eighties and have very fond memories of my youth in the town attending Manorway then on to St Chads, I was also in the Sea Scouts during the seventies based in the church hall in town center which is the main reason for the post, does any of your readers remember being in the scouts with myself and have any photos or memories they could share?

  • Hi Paul.

Yes i was also in the Tilbury sea scouts , which was held at the side hall of the Tilbury methodist church in calcutta road.

The group was originally run my ” mac ” magleanan, a 50 something, smoking gentelman with a mostache.

The group was later taken over in the early seventies and run by my brother in law bernard pilgrim and a guy named Lawrenence , who both planned and made canoes for the cadets.

I however do not have any photos myself of those moments in time, but beranrd is still alive and kicking ( living in Grays) and may have some pics if your interested to see.

Your name is familiar to me , but cant place a face onto the name — sorry.

Hope this helps,  drop me a line if you want for more chat

    best wishes
